Reframing Our Diet

Nov 11, 2020 by rhyslud Leave a Comment

Before I launched World Reframed, I had started with a channel called NeoVegetarian. I started it because I was diagnosed with heart disease at 45 and after much exhaustive research, I have decided that the healthiest diet for me would be a balanced vegan diet focused on whole plant foods with lots of legumes and very little packaged food.

The problem is that I like a lot of foods with meat and especially fish.

So I developed a way of eating that I enjoy and can stick to that is mostly as I described above, but maybe 2 or 3 meals a week (OK maybe four) stray from the plan. It is probably closest to the Flexitarian diet.

My diet confused the hell out of my friends who were constantly asking what I could eat. I also lost a lot of weight and people were asking me how. So I decided to start my channel, Neovegetarian. For a variety of reasons, I have changed my plans — but not my diet. I still think it is a wise diet, especially for older folks.

In this video, Dr. Shintani talks about what he calls the Peace Diet.

Their goal, as the creators put it, is “to transport visitors into a festive dreamscape.” And honestly, that’s exactly the kind of dreamscape I’ve always wanted to wander through. […]

Becoming Washingtonians

Our Journey to Tacoma (and the Many Surprises Along the Way) We meant to leave California for Tacoma, Washington first thing on the morning of November 22nd. Truly, we did. But we still had a few last-minute tasks at the Richmond house before we could call the landlord for the final walkthrough. So much for […]

The Retirement Opportunity

For many of us, our lives are framed by the constraints of our career and family.  Where we live is often based on opportunity, commute time, and school district.  Recreation is planned around school, stingy vacation allowances, and work priorities.  And of course, our jobs dictate how we spend the majority of our waking hours. Retirement is an opportunity to reframe how and where we live our lives.

Here we will explore possibilities for an abundant retirement on any budget
